Pregnant platy help??

Ive got a male and a female platy with a clown loach (which i think has been picking on the male) making him not eat for a few days and sit alone up the corner of the tank, ive been out today and had 2 baby angelfish and when i got back realised the male was dead and there was 1 fry (platy) hiding, i didnt even realise she was prgnant, she doesnt look any bigger and isnt showing any dark spots. ive only had the tank a month and im not sure what to do, i caught the fry and its in a breeding tank.

How do i know if she will have more and do i need to seperate her from the others? what do i feed the fry?

Thank you

Several problems with your tank:

1) You should read http://www.fishlore.com/WaterChemistry.htm and http://www.fishlore.com/NitrogenCycle.htm
2) Clown loaches should be kept in groups of 2-3 or more and should be kept only in 55g or larger tanks, because they can live well into their 70s-80s (yes, years.. There is one in Shedd's aquarium that has been on display since the 1930s.)
3) Platies, like most if not all livebearers, should be kept with ATLEAST 2 females per male in the tank to avoid over-harassment of any one female.
4) Your aquarium age says 1 day and you say 1 month (I assume the aquarium age thing is inaccurate?) In either case, what are your ammonia, nitrite, and Nitrates showing as on your testing kit.
5) Do you have a seperate tank for the fry? If you put them back in with the clown loach they will probably not survive.
6) Platies are much like guppies in that the females store sperm for upwards of 6 months. Which means once inseminated they can reinpregnate themselves until that sperm deposit runs out. The platies can, and often do, eat their own fry also.

Thank you.

People say different things everywhere about how many fish and what to keep with what. Like i was told today each fish is individual. some will get on and some wont. i was told when i had them my platys were fine just the 2 of them and my clown loach is fine alone. When he is larger he will be moved to another tank. you can follow the guidelines but i think its best to work on trial and error aswel.

Thanks for the info about the platys, ive now found another 2 which are in the breeding tank too.

of course each fish is individual..just some dont survive without schooling...and none will survive ammonia or nitrites...you should read about the cycle that CW gave you before you keep adding more fish..none will survive and will be poisioned before they give birth if the tank doesnt get cycled..especially the angels..they are super sensitive....all we can do is give advice on how to help, its whether you take the advice or not is your choice hope things work out well!
