Naughty Male...

I have a VERY naughty little platy...It's one of my males. He is constantly chasing and nipping at my two sunsets! I could understand him nipping the male sunset(the male sunset is smaller than him), but not why he's attacking the female too. He doesn't bother any other fish in the tank.
I actually think, he could just be racist. Because he is orange and so are the other platies(except the sunsets he is picking on) and plus the serpaes are orange too! But he doesn't pick on my albino cory cats....Although he could be picking on the cories too, and I just havent noticed.

The serpaes are also chasing the two sunsets, but they were mistreated and could just be a little PO'd.

I was thinking of ways to fix these problems and came up with this:
What if I returned my naughty male platy, and got another serpae?
This would stop the sunsets from being picked on because the naughty male would be gone, and I hear serpaes will stop nipping if there are more of them.

Does anybody have better ideas? I really want to stop all this fin-nipping because my little fishies fins are starting to look really bad .

Serpae are like tiger barbs, keep em in a group of 5+ and the nipping is eliminated

Your platy's behavior is very normal. This is a male platy we're talking about, and males do get quarrelsome with each other. As for the female, you male is "in the mood". Chasing and nipping is a sign of the need to breed. This is eliminated if your put another female in, so the male can divide his attentions among the others. If you do not wish to purchase any more fish, consider re-arranging decorations and plants so that there are more hiding places for periods of rest and shelter.

Okay. I don't have any room for more fish, I think i'm overstocked right now...Otherwise I would get another serpae.
