Lighting

I have two platies in a 5 gal. hex aquarium (I know, it's probably too small. ). Should I turn the light off at night, or leave it on 24/7?

Turn the lights off at night. Fish's lighting should simulate day and night.

Between 8 and 12 hours of light per day is what they need. If you notice algae starting to flourish, then you'll want to reduce the amount of daily light.
