I recently bought a bunch of high-fin Platties and a couple of the females were pregnant.. one of them, a golden yellow with black spots gave birth to a number of fry, all looking like her except without the high-fin.. one of the male fry started off looking normal, but as he got older, began to develope the same look of Balloon Mollies I've seen.. thing is, the limited experience I have with that type of Molly is with one that was already mature when I got him, so I have no idea what Balloon Mollies look like when they're young or if there's such a thing as a Ballon Platty.. am I dealing with a normal Platty or is he deformed?

BTW.. he's not bent in shape to suggest some kind of deficiency in his diet, but has the same shape as a Balloon Molly and is otherwise quite healthy in terms of appetite.. so is he a 'Ballon Platty'?

I believe balloons are a forced deformity, easily created in mollies and platys. Although your platy might just be getting older and the change you see in him is just an old age indicator that our older platys showed.

Can't be an age thing, the little fella was born less than 6 months ago.
