white platy poo

I've owned my platy for a few months and her waste has always been white and sometimes thready. (gross topic) Anyways, the more I'm learning about my other fish (mollies) the more I'm thinking she could have some sort of intestinal worms. Do you think I need to treat her. I have about 12 fish in my 29g tank. Is this somthing that they all could carry now? I'm not sure what to do next.

Master Of Fish Poo!

Welcome to Fishlore.

She may have internal parasites, or it could be her diet. What is her regular diet? Usually it will spread around a tank, if it's parasites.

Does she sometimes have a red thread hanging out of her vent?? It might look kinda like red poop. I have a guppy ( pic attached ) that had camallanus worms. I treated it ( successfully ) One symptom of these worms is thready white poop. I used jungle labs anti parasite fiid. ( make sure it is the stuff with levamiosol in it ) . I seperated the one obviously infected fish and treated him in a 1 1/2 gal tank by himself...for the tank he was in I followed the instructions on the food but that didn't seem to work for him so I fed him nothing but the med food for a month with a bit of brine shrimp once in a while to make sure he was passing poop ( not knowing if the med food would constipate him). normally you feed the med food for 3 days hen reg food for 3 days and repeat for a month which is how I treated the main tank . I kept him alone for a month after I finished giving him the med food and then put him back in the tank...this has been 3 weeks to 1 month ago and I have no signs of the worms at all anymore. Maybe this isn't the problem as I hear they are quite rare but if you see red threads I would check it out...good luck.
