I lost a fish :(

I lost the platy that was acting strange. She died yesterday. I feel like a bad mother or something. I wish I had known about cycling the tank before I bought my fish. I did a water change yesterday and I just did one about thirty min ago. I know it's probably silly but I feel like cying. I hope nothing else happens the rest of my fish. I am already so attached to them!

trish it's not uncommon i think almost everyone on here has lost a fish or more during cycling... yeah you feel bad just as i(we all) did... a lesson learned will help you in the long run just keep up with the water changes add water conditioner... when your adding fresh water are you making sure it is the same temp as the water in the tank? keep an eye the on ammonia levels in the tank, while my tank was cycling i did 2 25% water changes
a day until it had fully cycled i didn't loose any more fish ( we lost 3 guppies) don't add any more fish until it has cycled success will come but it can't be rushed... your next couple weeks will require time and effort but the reward is worth it..
* watch those nitrite readings also...

I will start changing the water twice a day. At what intervals did you change the water? Once in the morning and once in the evening? Thank you so much for taking the time to answer me every time I post. I really appreciate it
