We like to raise the fry in a tank of their own. A filter with fish net netting over the intake, bare bottom for the tank.. a few caves and plants if you want, a small airstone and it's a safe little fry home.

We found that Omega One Veggie Flakes, Cyclopeeze flakes and Livebearer flakes mixed together and crushed to powder make a great food for them. So would baby brine shrimp.. crushed peas and crushed boiled egg yolks can also be fed to them.

i would need to buy and cycle a new one as i have my daughters molly in our hospital tank with mouth fungus..... probley take too long.. quick question if i take rocks and cycled tank water from existing tank and add them to a new tank will this go through a full cycle or just a mini cycle
how soon after birth should they be fed?

no more fry yet

k well im off to bed for a few hours 1:00 here and have to get up at 6:00 to get kids off to school... then to petsmart for a few things will check back before i leave to see what is said about new tank.... seeing as tetras and even the platy's were after the fry i'm afraid they'll all get eaten by the time i get up in the morn... i'm pretty sure she's going to have more seeing as all the fish are following her around and she seems overly excited.... there are plenty of plants maybe with some luck some more will make it.... guess i might be needing that 55 gallon sooner than later....

It's hard to say for sure. If you can, treat the water with Prime and do water changes of 25% daily. You'll need to anyway to clean up leftover food (the reason for the bare bottom). They'll eat pretty much, right away and this young need 4 small feedings a day of the powdered flakes or other fry food.

You could hang some gravel from a cycled tank in a pantyhose stocking so it will be easy to remove after a week and not make cleaning harder.

k thanks cobetta. never had any fry before this is all new... still don't see any more fry even moved the plants around, checked under the ship and all, just the one, but i suspect there are or were more i think i am going to go ahead and set up another tank and get everything going perhaps get a floating plant since it seemed to like staying at the top of the tank until the other tank is cycled... maybe the breeder net freaked momma out and she's holding them back.. lol i can say it freaked the cat out lol she was all jumpy when she was looking in the tank with huge eyes like omg what's she got now... lol guess i should be in pet lovers anon
