Can Platy and Variatus Platy breed?

Hello

I found out that there are two kinds of platy: Platy or Moon platy and Variatus Platy. We have 2 Red Wagtails(belongs in the Platy group). I'm planning to get a Mickey Mouse Platy for them to breed with, but it belongs to the Variatus group. Can they breed?

Yes any of the Xiphophorus can interbreed.

Platys aren't picky, they'll gladly breed with other varieties of platy.

Chances are a mix of both kinds. It's really up to the genetics.
