I have FRY!

My red wag platy is "frying"!

I was able to catch 8 of them and they are in quart jar now.

Is there anything that u guy would recommend me doing to help them along?

I know there are more in the tank I just have to go "fishing" for them but they blend in SO well with my gravel that I am just half tempted to leave them in there and let them be.

wish me luck.

A quart jar is a bit small...also how are you heating it? How often do you change the water in it? What are you feeding the fry?

They will only be in that jar for tonight and MAYBE tomorrow as I will be going out to buy a breeding tank to hang on my 10gal tank.
As for food but powder flack that I have for the big plats.

I am keep the water warm with a hot water bath in a bucket.

Ok sounds good. They need lots of veggie matter in their diet so make sure some of the flakes you are grinding up for them are veggie flakes.

You might want to consider a seperate tank for them to be moved to. They outgrow the breeders net quickly and lots more fry will follow.

We took everything out of the platy tank in order to find all of the fry. Slow, careful work but it's amazing how well they can hide. The gravel especially can crush them from what I've read.

Keep a lookout for more fry the next few days. Platys usually drop a few more fry in the days after the initial drop.

Floating "Guppy Grass" can often attract and save fry from hungry adults. We actually changed substrata from gravel to flat marbles, which creates tons of hiding places for them to dart down into. Also a whole bunch of plants close together can provide them with some hiding places harder for the adults to get into.
