Strange Behavior

I have 4 Platys, I now know(thanks to you guys) there are 3 female and 1 male. The females are pregnant and I have noticed lately that they all seem to chase the male around. They dart at him and bump him with their "nose". Is this normal? Why are they seemingly picking at him? Should I be concerned?

they are fine. when females are pregant tey tend to get more aggressive. Make sure to have a baby tank for the fry so the grownups dont eat them.

Thanks Mark! I was concerned. They are all beating up on him....lol. I do have a breeder tank and plan/hope to save as many of the fry as I can.

I feel so bad having him in there all alone like that. Do you think they mind?

It won't be any problem to keep male there for some days. And after u get fry just make sure they all r in breeders tank.

with the male out of the tank, you may see the females getting testy with each other.

Platys are just like that...always one chasing around another. Unless he seems really stressed, I wouldn't bother isolating him. Make sure you have plenty of plants/hiding places in the tank.
