ok i have a piranha and he has stopped eating period the water stats are perfect and he seems to making friends with his food. im not quite sure what the problem is. he used to have a brother that he ate. so i dont know why he would eat his brother but not his food any suggestions would help.

He may have attacked the other fish b/c there is not enough space for one piranha, let alone two. What are your water parameters exactly?

i had 2 when i first got them about the size of a half a dollar. and i say its a 20 but i really dont it was a custom tankmade by my uncle it might more i know for sure its not less than 20 gallons

20 gal fed him guppies then switched to brine shrimp and he would eat the shrimp after a while. so i went back to guppies and he hasnt eaten yet.

This is an old post but a friend had a 70 gal. tank with with large fish in it including a jack dempsy,oscar,2razorbacks and 1 piranha among some cats that disappeared on a regular basis. So eventually the cats became transient visitors. The main idea was make the community compete for the "LIVE FOOD" in generous amounts.The Dempsy and Oscar were larger than the piranha and that had alot to do with it. So if the piranha rules over the tank the community failed.
And,the knife fish not in pairs will attempt to socialize with a piranha and his fate is doom,remember Piranha don't socialize with anything and other fish in communities will socialize with anything if its lonely.The Dempsey and Oscar socialize together somewhat.
