i have a 5 inch red belly and want to know if i can introduce smaller red bellies into the tank...if so how small...i've been told different answers by different people. my tank is 55g/208L

i dont have to much knoledge about piranhas but..whats the tank size is a good way to figure this out...

You have to add a few new fish, not one and not too much smaller than 5", 3" is as small as I would go with a 5" RB piranha. From our experience the little ones get beaten up, and piranha do best in least a shoal of 5.
FIRST of all how big is your tank? If you have a big enough tank and enough hiding spots they should do fine.

Ok My bf is the piranha guy around here...he said depending on how long the lone fella was alone if it wasn't that long, you should get piranha at least 2 no smaller than the 5". The fella who was in the tank first will get very aggressive...possibly kill the others.
He actually recommends that you get all new fish and get a shoal of 5. Sorry.
