back into piranha

i know i dont know verry many of the people on this fourm
but i am back in to piranha and gettin ready to set up a fish store in the next year.
if anyone needs any help with piranha i can usualy answer yer questions and help topics.
so yeah after much deliberation i conviced alyson to let me put piranha back in our 120 gallon tank... and well i went abit over board. in the 120 gallon now i have 30 2 inch baby reds and 1 enigmann prianha. DO NOT TRY WHAT I AM DOING UNLESS U ARE EXPIERENCED
and so far its been allrite. an enigmann is a serrasalmus specis of piranha and are usually kept solitary fish. but in some cases u can put them with outher piranaha of the pygocentrus species... this is my first attempt at this so ill keep yas posted on how the aggression is... so far when i put the enigmann in the tank yesterday the reds imeditely chased him around the tank. butt after about a hour they stopped picking on him and accepted him as one of them... he is schooling with them. and this morning they he ate with them at feeding time.
i will get alyson to take some pics tonite and post it for you all to see

Welcome to FishLore rone.
Thats a lot of piranha in that tank. Do you have plans for another tank shortly? At the recommended 2 gallons per inch for piranha they will soon out grow the 120 gallon considering they can get to 12 inches plus the other one you have with them.

naw they should be good in a 120 togather for abit... they wont reach 4 inch for another 6 months or more.
and the enigmann only gets 8 inch max. plus its extreme cases where reds get bigger than 9 inch.
and that 2 gallon for inch of fish doesnt apply to pirnaha at all. ive kept many prianha and huge schools . so yer sayin if i put 2 15 inch rhombs in a 300 gallon it would be ok... i highly dbout it ive kept 8 9-12 inch pirnaha in a 84 galon for 8 months without one incodent and 9 6 inch reds in a 55 gallon... the trick is to keep them well fed 2-3 times a day. and have lots of hiding places. also i am saying DO NOT TRY THIS AT HOME
also i will be selling some of these aswell as they grow... ween it out to a school of 10 by the time they are 6inch.
no plans for another tank in this apt... but when the store opens

this is where I got my info on the 2 gallons per inch I also understand they are very messy and messy fish need more space.
good luck

Yup they are which is why we have a lot of filtration on it. We aren't keeping all 30. They were cheap to uy in bulk. Rone's buddy at our LFS store is always looking for piranha of different size.
