OOps I did it again- Aggresive Pictus

I had just got my community tank settled all was going well with four angels, 1 male betta, 8 Platties, 8 Rasboras and then I went and added 3 pictus cats (1.5 - 2 inches in size).

Now there was a little fin nipping before from the Angels towards the Betta but after adding more hiding places the angels could not get too all seemed well.

However this morning the Betta looked worse for wear, his fins had been shreeded, so I assume the pictus cats are responsible can anyone confirm this.

Dont worry we have now relented and given all previous advice from this site the betta is now recovering in his own tank.

Re: OOps I did it again- Aggresive Pictus?

Thanks I am sure he will he still seems spirited enough.

Are Pictus Catfish Renowned for this behaviour? Are they the likley suspects?

Hard to believe Angel Fish could do that much fin damage as there fin nipping before was hardly noticable on the odd occasions it happened.

Now I don't have angel's but I have Pictus, Platties, and tetra's n my tank. As far a fin nipping not outta my cat's but they Did kill a small platy. If the betta is smallish or anything else is they will certainly give a go at eating it.

No my betta is a monster & still looks great despite the damage to his fins, why o why dont he kick ass & defend himself, I seen it happen, he shrugs it off & legs it.

No matter he is now safley recovering in his own tank.

Life goes on in my community tank ... who said owning a dog was hard work lol

It's probably best Betta's aren't community fish anyway. My dog and cat are pains also. I hope you have LOTS of plant's and stuff in your tank if you are wanting platy fry, Those cats are eating machines, I haven't seen a fry since adding them.
