goldfish bowl

I was cleaning my pond today and thought it would be kind of fun to get a "fun" pic of one of my goldies. A while back I bought one of those "goldfish bowls" figuring it would look nice as a miniature terrarium with some pretty little plants in it. Well, I never got around to getting the plants and setting it up, so I dug it out and put one of my male "feeder" goldfish in the goldfish bowl. The third picture is my favorite...

I also included a couple of pics (4 and 5) showing that he was returned to the pond unharmed by his brief (less than 1 minute) stay in the evil goldfish bowl...

So - caption that third photo...

Gremlin, I think your fish needs a bigger tank.

You know Gremlin, that would be a great photo to put on the goldfish profile and care sheet. It's a great example of how big they get and why they need larger tanks.

As far as a caption: "Look, I fit! Now take me home"

Hello Gremlin. You have such beautiful fish! It's always a pleasure to see your photos. I hope you don't mind that on some of them I'll post that what you've done is for photo purposes only
Thanks for sharing those beauties!

Thank you! I don't mind at all you putting that on. I try to remember to do so, but I forget sometimes. I have a horrible memory...

Ummmmm Lets see, I tried counting when the water level was low, but they kept hiding under the lillies. I believe it is 18, but it could be more. And I will be adding a few more soon. My sister's spawn are finally getting big enough to add without worrying about them getting eaten by anyone bigger than them. They also now have their adult coloring. I'll be going over to pick out the ones I want sometime in the next couple of weeks. Yes, I will post pics (if I remember).

I like it! Except that really isn't good for a betta either, but still . . .

I know a person who has a pond and one of those bowls hanging upside down over the pond with the rim of the bowl in the pond. This way the fish swim right from the pond up inside the bowl. It's so cool. He calls it his Fish Condo. I want to put one in my pond next summer.

Some of mine are already to the 9 - 12 inch length. The filter I have is rated for a 600 - 800 gallon pond and the filter I have is rated for a 400 - 600 gallon pond. I brought home (from my sister's goldie spawn) 10 new babies. I will be sending several of my larger all orange females to her to sell for me. She is selling some of her adult female goldies as well as the remaining babies. Both of us want more shubunkins! I am also sending at least one of my mostly white females over to her pond. Her pond is 700+ gallons.

I've never actually tried reindeer horns on a fish. Or even a santa hat. That would be interesting...
