Water Problems

I was just wonderning, my pH in my 55 and both 5 gallon tanks read 7.5 my tap water is naturally high in alkalinity and ph. I've got freshwater fish and was going to get a betta if they were tolerable to high Ph levels. Anyway I wondered if my fish has adjusted to this and for me to leave it alone, or I've got some ph down or ph regulator I could put in it?

It's better for the fish to have a stable ph rather than try to adjust it and have it fluctuate.
7.5 won't be a problem for the betta as long as it's acclimated properly.

PH of 7.5 is just alittle above normal(7 being neutral) and most fish will tolerate that PH. I would not adjust your PH if I were you. It would cause more problems trying to keep the PH where you want it with chemicals since with each water change your PH would be changing and that is what is not good for your fish.

Hi FishQueen55
In your aquarium info the tanks are 4 months old and you do not have readings for
ammonia nitrite or nitrates, ammonia can affect the PH value.
Have you checked the tap water for ammonia?
Also PH will swing at different times of the day, so try to test at the same time.
Maintaining a good exchange of O2 will also help PH,
Good info from Capekate and Lucy
