High pH. Help

I am coming to an end with my first fishless cycle and everything is going great. My ammonia all of a sudden pinned at 0 and my nitrites are falling fast. At the end I plan to test for Nitrates and most likely do a large water change. I also tested the pH level and to my discovery found out it was fairly acidic. I would gauge it right around 7.8-8.0.

I have been reading around about Angelfish and it states that angels like pH ranges of 6.6-7.4 roughly. I was wondering if when I do my water change if I could use store bought spring water to bring down the pH level? It's like $.50 a gallon and I could just buy ~15-20 gallons and do my cycle ending water change with that. Would this bring down my pH level at all. I am guessing that stoe bought spring water has a lower pH than 8.0.

It made sense to me. Just wondering what you guys thought?

test your tap water to see what the ph is....maybe mix some spring water with tap water of course treating the tap with prime for chlorine removal etc....and congrats on the fishless cycle...sounds like you are almost there!!!!!!!!!!! most fish acclimate to different ph's so dont medicate the tank for ph problems...also angels like a tank thats established already..as they are sensitive buggers...so maybe after its cycled, put some other fish in it first? goodluck!

my ph is 8 in all 4 of my tanks. I have 2 bettas ( in their own tanks ) .I have guppies neons amano shrimp glowlight tetras cherry barbs and albino corys in the other 2 large tanks. ( 29 and 36 gallon ) All of my fish are doing well with the ph of 8. all of my tanks have a 0 reading on ammonia and nitrites with anywhere between 5 - 20 on nitrates . I don't have any angels but neons are supossed to be very delicate when it comes to ph and they are very healthy and hardy in my tanks. I have not lost any at all....good luck.

I have been keeping angels in 8.0-8.1 water for over a year with no issues. pH stability is more important than hitting some "ideal" target. I would suggest NOT trying to change the pH. Artificially altering pH often leads to the pH bouncing up and down, rather than staying stable, and that is more stressful to the fish than just living with the high value to begin with.

There are products out there to change your ph but the fluctuating ph caused by these products is as stressful for your snails as for fish.
Are your snails dying at that ph?
If you need more information lets start another thread instead of hyjacking this one

Off topic?... I know about the chemicals and have decided to take a more "natural" approach, but I don't know what I can use, or how to do this. No my snails are not dying, but do have abnormal shell growth. Thanks

yes I went ff topic discussing products to change ph. If their shells are abnormal it's probably because their not getting enough calcium. Usually it's best to start another thread instead of changing the direction of an existing thread.
