Tap water at 8.0 tank finally lowered to 7.4 - need it to be at 7 or lower!

I have a 46 gallon bowfront aquarium that I have stocked with live plants, 6 angels, 9 rummy nose, and three platies. My recent additions include 2 Turqouis discus. As many may know, discus like low pH. I've added the driftwood which brought my pH down from 8.0 to 7.4 almost overnight. I have yet to introduce peat into my canister filter. I've been thinking about adding an RO filter. Would this be benefitial? Are there such filter as portable ones you can hook up to your faucet when doing a water change or would it have to be installed on the aquarium or tap more permanently? As mentioned in my title, the tap water is at a pH of 8.0. my amonia, nitirite and nitrate are all at zero. Can anyone help me in finding a more suitable way of me lowering my pH on a natural way?

Thanks all!!!

Yes, you can get RO setups that are simple to setup.
Be careful when playing with pH. Driftwood and peat are difficult (though not impossible) to get to produce a consistent pH, especially around water changes.
RO is about the easiest way to change pH, as you start with a blank slate and then can add things to make the pH and hardness that you want.

Oh, yeah, and Welcome to Fishlore!

Thanks for the feedback. My local fish shop only had a $250 RO filter unit. They recommended I try a product called "Discus buffer". Ever heard of it? and is worth trying? I'm thinking I'm going to add it to the water I put back in for my water changes.

Thanks so much!
