to change or to leave? ph

I have been running my tank for over a year and half now and have only just this month started testing pH. My ph is 7.8 and it seems to be holding steady there. I have guppies and cory cats in it. Will this ph be a problem for them?? if this is not good, is there a natural way to bring it down? I am mostly concerned because two of my cory's have died recently and I have no idea why. could this be related?

That ph is just fine. Most fish will acclimate to the natural ph of your tap water and is much better to leave it stable instead of trying to "fix" it because then it tends to fluctuate a lot stressing the fish and making them sick.

I agree, the fish will be okay w/ that ph its actually better not to alter the ph than to change it.

If your fish havent had any problems living in that tank for that long with the ph the way its been the whole time I wouldnt change a thing.

It would actually be bad to change it now. The fish have adapted to the ph in that tank and changing it now would just put stress on them and could open the door for them to get sick.
