if the red on their chest is red, then they are both males, if one has silver on the chest, its a female

this is common in gouramis and its best to have one per tank unless you provide ALOT of cover through the use of plants and other decorations

I thought the fins were pointed in males and rounded in females, and that some females had a red chest and some males had a silver chest.

I had 2 DG in my 55 gal., and the dominate male ended up killing the other.
If I were you, I'd try to take the less dominate male back to your LFS.

if it turns out to be two boys, i'd personally return the aggressive one, if one turns out to be a girl, (if you have the room) you should add two more females to split up the attention of the male

well the more aggressive gourami has stopped bothering the other one ever since i added an angelfish, who always seems to chase the more agressive gourami away when he goes near the weaker one. (maybe he has hired help?)

the smaller gourami still has trouble swimming and is loosing weight , i try to feed him seperately everyday and watch him eat but hes still not growing much, could he have something wrong or is it because of the stress caused by the other gourami?

also his tail drops after his dorsal fin, i am thinking it is an intestine problem

I have the same problem with my pearls, but they are the opposite gender. The female bullied the male, but has stopped. The male dosent eat (or at least when I'm watching, and by the time I leave, the other one has eaten all the food). His tail seems to drop too, but he swims fine.
