We purchased a Pearl Gourami this past Sunday (today is Wednesday) from the
LFS. My 4yo named him Moose. Of course we cycled the new 10g tank before adding him.
He is alone, save for some plants (a broadleaf and a seaweed, but I have no idea the scientific names). We plan to put six neon tetras in there in a week or so, but wanted to wait for the
nitrogen cycle to strengthen, plus I read about their shyness and as such are giving him time to get used to the place.
In an effort to avoid overfeeding, we have been giving him one flake of Tetramin Pro in the morning. Should I give him more, or is the one enough?
Of course, the presumption is that Moose is eating the flake, but I have only seen him eat it once, as my son and I feed him just before I leave for work. For the sake of argument, let's say that he eats it. Also, the flakes are fairly uniform in size and shape, so lets just assume that each flake is fairly equal.
And what about after I add the neons? How many flakes should we give then?
Any other tips?
Finally, thanks for the site. Great work.
