8 Gallon Tank Ready

I recently just filled my 8 gallon tank with some black gravel, bought the filter needed and started the cycle. Can't wait till it's done. I've got my sunken ship in too! Pictures coming SOON, don't worry! I was thinking of adding a bit of green gravel on top of the black to match with my sunken ship which has a bit of green on it too.

I went to the fish store today to buy the gravel and the filter and also my weekly stock of fish which was 3 Glowlight tetras for this week, and so I checked the price for one of the beautiful Guppies they have. Unfortunately, one Guppy cost about RM10 ($2.86) which is considered VERY expensive for just a small lil' beautiful Guppy. Gotta keep searching for better priced beautiful Guppies for my 8 gallon.

As always, I'll keep everyone updated.

hi peacemaker Sounds like your 8G is going to be terrific. I guess the price of 2.86 for a guppy is because they are so abundant there? Keep looking, that beauty will catch your eye and go home with you soon enough

Well, I know, $3 ain't so bad there but here it's 3 times the price here so it comes to 10 malaysian ringgit which is considered expensive for just one Guppy. A normal guppy here would cost only RM2 here which is VERY cheap or considered free at the states

Thanks Mare. Can't wait to put Guppies in it. Yeah, I guess so. I managed to target a few stores to find cheaper and more beautiful ones, I'll keep everyone updated.

Personally, I'd consider a betta.

Okay. I finally found the time to take out my camera and take a shot of my new 8 gallon. It's equipped with a hanging filter, china brand of course, difficult to get the higher quality ones here in Malaysia. I took out a small piece of the filter media from my 55 gallon and seeded it into my 8 gallon. So I hope to be able to put fish into it by next week after I move into my new room and place the tank there.

On my list now, I still have to buy the green gravel to cover a bit of the black to give it the effect. Also, an aquarium light which could drill another hole in my pocket. Hopefully I can get it by next week so I can get a free membership card from the LFS.

Hey Amanda. I would love to get a Betta but maybe not this tank. My mom was already hoping to see Guppies in it. I might think about it but very possible chance I'd be sticking to Guppies. If I get another tank less than a 10 gallon, I'll definitely get a Betta and you SHOULD be the first one to know about it!

In the picture, you may notice that there are some white lines and marks on the background. I actually put too much super-glue to stick the background and accidently just scribbled the glue all over the glass. haha

Ha! That's too funny -- I actually thought you just had a really cool design for your background. If you don't tell people, they'll just think like I did.

I can't wait to see what your new fish looks like. Guppies come in so many shades and designs, it's hard to chose.

yeah. My sister also thought I purposely did it as a design but I told her it was an accident. Thanks! You laughing made me laugh too!

I can't wait to have them as well, I know, it'll be very difficult to choose. I stopped by the fish store just now to get my new filter for my 55 gallon and just passed by some of Guppies. They had about 4-5 different design Guppies, so I was thinking. Which ones were best for my 8 gallon?

I love the "accidental design" on the background! It's gives it an awesome, creative look!

Hello Peacemaker. I think it's going to look "great"! I'm sure you'll find the guppies you are looking for in time. Better yet they may find you
Have fun!
