I've set up my 55 gallon on the 25th of July, 2009. Cycle was completed on the 15th of August 2009. Before it was set up, I already planned to set up the tank as a freshwater planted tank. Bought the plants, the suitable lighting, driftwood, the substrate and the expensive co2 system.

Added my first 3 fish which were 3 Neon tetras a day or two before the cycle was completed. Then added another 3 a week later. I then added the Pearl Gourami (because I saw it in the store begging me to buy it! LOL) after 4 days.

Now I currently have 9 Neon Tetras and 1 Pearl Gourami.

My stocking plan: 15 Neon Tetras, 10 Glowlight Tetras, 6 Cory Catfish, and 1 Pearl Gourami

Right now, my tank is a bit of a mess. Plants are dying (don't know what's the reason), glass that was supporting the top of the tank fell apart. Tried to fix it back with sealant but no luck.

So now I plan to reset my tank by removing all the live plants except the plants that are fully living, keep the driftwood and the substrate, sell the co2 system and buy some artificial plants. I plan to fill my tank with artificial plants and 2 or 3 live plants.

Sorry you're having so much trouble getting your tank set up and running, but the pics look great!

I just came back from looking for a new filter for my tank. The filter I have now isn't suitable for my tank as it's an overhead filter which needs the glass that broke from my tank. I plan to get a liquid/internal filter worth RM50+ ($14+) so no problem with that. Artificial plants seem to be very cheap at my LFS (called Fish Lovers here), so I should be buying a few there. Then I'll need a new tank light since my previous one fell in the water.

And GOOD NEWS! My dad gave me $100+! Reason? He knew I was going through some cash problem and had spent all my savings on my tank, so he paid me back for it. I feel so guilty!

Okay. Currently, it's night here in Malaysia, so tomorrow, I'll be paying a visit to the pet store to buy the stuff I need to complete my 55 gallon. (I need to finish all the dirty and inside work quick because I have exams in 2 months from today)

I'll be buying some artificial plants to fill my tank and some java moss. Then start my Glowlight tetra school by getting my first 3 glowlights. can't wait! I'll keep all updated with pictures hopefully by tomorrow!
