Quick Question...

I'm not particularly familiar with parrots but I was in Petcetera today and saw what must have been parrot hybrids. They were all the typical parrot shape but 3-4 of them had darker (I want to say dempsy coloring but that's not it) and a tiny one in there looked like a convict. These are the normal orangey parrots I've always seen... I have a pic on my cell and I'll see if I can post it.

Bloody Parrots original color is orange. They do tend to turn black or spotted with black during their first year and is perfectly normal.
Hope you enjoy the video.

lol I didn't know they changed color

Ken: In that last link there's a cichlid in the photo with the parrot. A bunch of the parrots had coloring very similar to that one, is that what they're juvie coloring is like?

Hello Red. A juvenile Bloody Parrot will look just like the adults, solid orange. Some may have the black patches that will fade away as the grow older

Hello. Now days there is no telling what they may look like. Try to make sure, should you decide to purchase one or preferably two that they haven't been tattooed or dyed.
My local WalMart sells them as Purple Parrots and they are no more purple than my orange ones

ANY br parrot other than bright/dark orange, brown(juvies), black/brown(teenagers) spots on the orange, are dyed parrots I have seen them in yellow, purple, bright bright red, & green ...their faces are just precious when you see them those colors because you know the torture they must have gone through...even the adult parrots that havent been dyed, will have black/brown in them occasionally depending on their moods LOL but they are nawty fish and they all should be in kens tank

Hello Red. I have a Rainbow Shark in with mine. Pretty much the same as a red tail shark. Add the Bloody Parrots last. I mad the mistake of adding my Rainbow last and the Bloody Parrots chased it all over the tank until it found a place to hide. I didn't see it come out for 6 weeks (this was in my 155g tank). After about 15 to 30 minutes they will forget that the fish is new and should leave it alone. They did the same with my Silver Dollars. Everyone gets along fine now
Keep us posted.
