One of my parrot fish is getting ready to lay eggs!! This morning she came out of the cave and was covered with black spots and I noticed her belly was HUGE and also she had a white "tag" (that I later learned was the tube that will release the eggs) hanging from underneath. She has been inside the cave cleaning it all day. The other parrot fish, I'm pretty sure is a male. I did some research and it said that a male parrot fish will get pink/rosey red cheeks during spawning. Well this parrot fish has deep red rosey cheeks and around his gills which is new! I know males are usually infertile, so I'm not getting my hopes up. Either way, this has been exciting. I can't wait for her to release the eggs and see what happens. I've been posting all this on the Parrot Cichlid DB if any one wants to read up.
