Bloody Parrots New Home

Good morning. My Bloody Parrots (BP's)are just amazing. They handled the move from the 155g to the 265g amazingly well. NO traumas. They are loving their new 265g home. I did my first water change yesterday and I declare they just love it. They do not mind me being in the tank (my hand of course) whatsoever. They every so gently nibble on my hand while I'm cleaning the glass. Their little faces are the softest things I have ever felt. I have to politely ask them to move so I can clean but they don't listen as I've mentioned before. It took 30 minutes just to clean the glass.

I hope to be moving my juvenile BP's from the 26g to the 265g early this week. My tongs are to arrive on Tuesday. (I was so hoping to have them by now but that's ok). The new light bulbs arrived and they really show my fish off well. Nice, bright, vibrant orange
Thanks!
Ken

Dee I think Shawnie has an Oscar or two in with her BP's but I'm not certain. I'm sure she'll see this and respond. Now I have kept Silver Dollars with Oscars in the past and everything was fine.
They are Carol for sure!

i have quite a bit of room in the tank so i might get 2 or 3 dollers but would have to be about 3 inches minium to avoid being eating ..

Personally I think they would be fine together Dee You are correct, get the Dollars large enough so they don't get eaten. Other than that I wouldn't expect any problems.

Hey BB! How are you? The water change was fun It actually took me an hour less changing the 265g compared to the 155g since I didn't have to jug water and heat it up and just drained it out the drain hole

Leave it to a drain hole to save time

We've had several digital cameras over the years and they bit the dust and we just didn't buy any more. has to bring me a new flat screen first so my fish can watch some TV too (I will post some pictures before too long)

I'm not going to mention pics again Too many posts are wasted on requests for pics!
So Ken, have you thought about adding some bottom feeders? you'll have mainly middle dwellers in there, with plenty of room to spare........

Hello Life. I think my first additions to the new tank are going to be 4 more cory cats. (after adding my juvenile Bloody Parrots that I have now) That will give me a total of 5. My one lonely Common Cory that I've had for years won't know what to think. lol He actually buddies around with the Rainbow Shark. I think the one's I saw at the LFS were Peppered Cory's. Too cute! My options with PetCo are limited.

I'll be going to the same LFS and hour away, where I purchased the new tank. They have 'wonderful" fish there. Hopefully I'll find some Red Hook Silver Dollars and Striped Silver Dollars there. I know they've had them in the past.
Did you have a suggestion? Always glad to hear them.
Ken

I have been admiring beautiful common plecos or similar around 12 inches long. They certainly look impressive laying at the bottom of the tank like a decoration. They appear to be laying in wait for a live feed, yet so placid. Something I may consider down the track.

My Pleco is 7" at the moment and growing. I've never had good luck keeping more than one in a tank for some reason. So with him, my Rainbow shark and a total of 5 Cory's my bottom feeders should be covered. Silver Dollars for the middle and my Bloody Parrots for the top. (The Silver Dollars go to the top at times as well.)

What type of pleco is it and how large do they grow? As you may well know, I have two baby BN plecos, but they won't get very large. Would a Common Pleco be aggressive towards the BN's or other varieties for that matter?

Life mine is a common Pleco (up to 18")to the best of my knowledge and from looking at photos. I had one a few years ago called a Red Pleco and the Common Pleco picked on it a good bit. I ended up losing it. I never even found any remains.

Silly me! I didn't realize you had a common pleco. Have to check your pics again - have not noticed it before.
