ok well my dads goldfish tank started leaking this morning..so we had to move the goldfish into my tropical tank..all i have in it at the moment is 2 baby blood parrots about 2-3" long and a small red tailed shark..we moved the 6 goldfish into my tank..so i was wondering whether i should keep them there or feed them to my oscars..they dont seem to be infected..and there getting along fine with the blood parrots..when we put them in the parrots started nipping at them..but now they are fine..so should i let them live in my tank or feed them to my oscars??

cant you get them another tank of their own? as far as using them as food, thats a decision only you can make....their lifespan wont be as long in a warmer tank but they can survive ...do you have the space to keep them in there?

my dad isnt that into fish..he just got them for my younger sister because she wanted some fish..so i dont think he will get another tank...they seem to have enough room in the tank there are in..the parrots werent eating and were hiding for the last couple of days as i only got them on saturday..but now they are out and swimming with the goldfish and they came up for the food today..so im thinking about just keeping them in the tank with the parrots..one of the goldfish seem to have a white and black spot on there head..i was just wondering whether this is a disease or not.. thanks for the quick reply

goldies will change colors constantly as they grow...just watch him...and also be preparred for your cycle to go haywire..thats allot of fish bioload/waste to add all at once and especially with just adding new fish a few days ago...

You should also do a lot of water changes probably 50% or 60% of water weekly or less than a week. Probably once or twice a week you should be doing water changes then your tropical fishes should be able to be alright, otherwise the chemicals produced by the goldfish will affect the tropical fishes.

Good luck with your goldfish and tropical fishes

Good morning. Sorry to hear that one of your tanks began to leak. Keep an eye open for ammonia spikes. I'm glad that your Parrots are out and about and coming out to feed now. It can take them a while to acclimate to their surroundings and they can be shy for a long time. Eventually you won't be able to get them to hide if you wanted them to

As for the gold fish...use your best judgement. Great information above.
