Blood Red Parrot Cichlid Question

Hello Everyone, I was in PetSmart today and I saw this cichlid as a "blood parrot" and a "bloody red parrot," which was more expensive. Is the difference in the name mean that they will eventually become a soild orange color? Thanks I was just wondering!

sounds like a parrot thats dyed its very cruel and painful im sure to them..anything other than the orange, is dyed...ive seen bright reds/blues/purples/greens etc...and yes, after time they turn right back into their beautiful natural orange color ..although now and then their black/brown colors that they have as juvies, shows up now and then

Wow beautiful fish. She is huge. I have two that look just like her but they are not that big....maybe someday.

Mine are catching up MizRamzi My largest is 8.5 -9"long and 6.5 tall. You have a "beauty" there.

Wolf, Shawnie could have hit the nail on the head. It's hard to say without pictures of them both. Their true color is orange and mentioned. They may have black spots or covered in black as juvies that will fade as they age.

Wolf I'm moving your thread to the parrot cichlid section of the forum. I think it will benefit more members and yourself there.. Thanks! Ken

Wow I did not know that. So that means that they will stay that color for the rest of their life? They were selling them for $25 dollars, is that expensive for this fish?

Evening Wolf. If the Parrots are dyed...the dye fades and the fish turns orange which is it's natural color. I also paid $25 for my juvies past March.

The older juvi's who have started to color up with orange, are usually more expensive than the babies that are still a mottled black. And it can be a huge difference in price too.
I paid about 8 dollars for my babies who have all grown beautifully and two are solid orange now. I much preferred raising my Parrots from babies.. they are more like family. and they know me well.
