Hello Willy. Welcome to Fish Lore! Pacu's will get extremely large. I've personally seen them in 125g tanks and the fish were at 26" long and had to be moved because they could not turn around in the tank. They will eventually out grow your 150g as well.
My opinion, Pacu's should not be sold as aquarium fish period. I do not recommend them at all.
Too, Pacu's and other tropical fish should not be mixed with Goldies. Goldies are cool water fish and tropicals need temperatures 70 to 80 degrees.
I hate to give you all of the above bad news. I just want you to have a happy healthy tank with many hour of enjoyment.
Have fun and enjoy the site. Lots of friendly people here and tons of experience and knowledge.
Ken

You need to get rid of the angles and the goodies if you want a pacu. The pacus grow very large so you might want to plan on upgrading even more if your pacu gets too big. Please do not buy one from a store, please look on kiji and craigslist or freecycle for a fish

To expand on what Ken said...

Black pacu can get up to around 36": http://fishbase.org/Summary/speciesS...s&lang=English
Red-bellied pacu can get up to around 42": http://fishbase.org/Summary/SpeciesSummary.php?id=263

From monsterfishrescue.com:
Quote:
One of the most problematic monster fish in the United States, these beasts grow to over 30” and can weigh up to 50 pounds!! Often sold at Walmart as “great companions for cichlids”… There’s two different kinds of pacu. The black pacu and the red bellied pacu. If you find yourself in possession of either one you may want to give me a ring. LOL! In order for pacu to be happy and healthy they need HUGE confines. Not to mention they’re happiest in schools. Pacus will mimic piranha for protection when young. But as they grow, who’s gonna bother a three foot fifty pound fish? For more facts on the black pacu (the more common one sold) check out this site, especially the third entry: http://www.aquahobby.com/gallery/e_pacu.php
Note the part about them being happiest in schools. By no means is a 150g tank small, but it's nowhere near large enough for a group of fish that size

I'm with Ken. These aren't fish that should be in the aquarium trade. Aside from getting so long, they're very bulky fish and produce a lot of waste. There's a local fish store that stocks monster fish (and gives proper care info on them) and actually doesn't stock pacu, as far as I can tell.
If someone is capable of putting together the thousand+ gallon tank that they really should have, then that person will also be able to afford special-ordering them.

Welcome to FishLore we have members of all ages and experience levels from all over the world . Again welcome.
All good advice given. Pacu are gentle giants that eat vegetation as a major part of their diet. A friend who owned a fish store took one as a rescue. He was in a 250 g tank and it got eventually got too small.
