we bought 2 pacus from walmart and put them in with our oscar they got big fast, we only have a 55 gallon tank so we are looking into either getting a custom tank made or trying to find a bigger one. what makes me mad is on their little info tag under pacu it says great tank mates for oscars and equal size fish......This is sooo not true. Something should be done about them selling theas fish.

Well, if you were a lawyer you could start a lawsuit. But, actually the tag does give some clues as to the problems associated with buying pacus, it just didn't give enough information for you to make an informed purchase.

The thing is, everyone needs to research the fish BEFORE you go to the store...this is one of the biggest mistakes everyone makes when they first get into fish keeping. Sadly it is a spur of the moment purchase, when 1/2 the fun is planning, and working out just what kind of tank you want, and what the fish are like that spark your interest, and what YOU need to do to be a responsible fish owner.

If you had read anything about pacus before you bought them, maybe you would have made a different choice.

I agree with S-Flower.

It is their bad for selling those fish without full product disclosure, however, it is your bad for not researching BEFORE the purchase of the fish.

It is a mistake, like she said, that a lot of newcomers to the hobby make. As long as mistakes are learned from they are not totally bad.
