Hey

Trying to see what the exact type of otos i have are. Also any ideas on sex.. Have two as you can see in pics below. The one on the right is smaller and has a more defined stripe down length of body.

The pic on the left isn't an oto. It looks like a Chinese Algae Eater
I'm not sure about the one on the right. The dorsal fin looks kind of long for an oto.
May someone else can ID that one for you.

Hmmm, is "cute" a type?

Look into those CAE... I've heard some not so good things about them.

The picture on the right looks a lot like my Oto, but mine has a slightly whiter belly and he has a defined brown spot at the base of his tail. I'm not sure if these are just color differences or how that works. I'm sure someone here will have a better idea.

Both look like CAE, to me.

That's what I thought too don't look like an otto at all.

well consensus seems to be they are CAE's.... i really need to read up on my fish types!!!

Those are both definitely Chinese Algae Eaters.
So you know, CAE will get bigger than just 1-2 inches and as they get older they will eat less algae.
