i have a 29 gallon tank and have some algea growing on all my plants and surely my substrate, but how do i know when to add otos to the tank, is there a good estimated wait time or just look for algea? also if i feed them algea wafers, shouldnt they be fine untill the tank has enough algea to support them?

Well your tank seems to be healthy by the looks of it since algae has been growing all around you tank. Maybe try putting in one oto, and a thailand flying fox (algae eaters too) I woudln't go with plecos since they are big waste producing machines but I do have one pleco in my tank. Everything is good if you always go water changes weekly along with siphoning your tank

Hello Jwok. I've read that your tank should be established for at least a few months before adding ottos.

i have one clown pleco, but he mostly eats wood and fresh cucumber... i was goin to have three bandit corys, but i think i like the otos better.

All plecos like wood jwok Ottos, will like cucumbers and other vegetables

so the otos should be fine with just the cucumber, untill the tank has enough algea, or should i still wait for a few months...

Not 100% positive, but I think it's been said on the forum that zucchini has more nutritional value for them.
They're very sensitive, that's one of the reasons why it's recommended to wait a couple month to give the tank a good amount of time to get established
