These guys can eat!!!

Just got two and love them already. Had some persistent algae issues and these guys were chowing down 5 seconds after I released them! I wasa cool to be able to actually see the algae disappearing.

My Oto's were so cool I had to add one more to my group. Everything I read said groups of three were best. It may be my imagination but I think they are less reclusive now. (not that they were shrinking violets before.)

They are really great little fishes The more you have the more active they are. They don't necessarily school, they just seem more comfortable. I have several in my 55g and they are all over one minute then together the next like they are having a conversation then they are all over the tank again. Funny little guys/gals.
Of you want to learn more about them here is an excellent website. www.otocinclus.com

Ya know, I keep reading about everyone having very social Ottos, but mine just hide behind a log. I have 5 of them in a 55 gal...not sure why they don't like the sun...

All I know is that my once algae plagued tank is beginning to sparkle (water was crystal, sides growing) and I have only had my Oto's 4 days (one of them only one day)!!!!Rockin' fish......

I unfortunately lost one of my Otos. He had never seemed as large or active as the other two who seem to be thriving. They got almost all my algae so I now occasionally supplement them with zuchini (Spelling?). It is funny to watch them eat it. I referred to it as synchronized eating compitition. They would sit on the zuchini and them suddenly they would both chow down. They would then stop in unison and start again. Fun guys to watch. Even with the loss of their friend they are becoming less secretive and more visible. I think my tank must be almost too clear though because if I move to fast near it they run and hide.

They still ROCK!
