Dying oto, any advice

I just noticed one of fiance's otos kind of floating in the goldfish tank. When he was bothered by the goldfish he swam away a bit then floated back up. I have removed him and placed him in a cup in my community tank.

Ive examined him and can only see one problem. His belly looks quite full and distended. That seems to be the point that wants to float. I think he may have over eaten or has something else.

Does anyone know if there is anything I can do for the little guy? Quick answers would be appreciated.

No to sound short...but Ottos don't go with goldfish. Ottos are tropical and should be kept at 80*, gold fish are coldwater fish. He is probably sick from being in the wrong conditions. I would take him out of that tank and put him in your sick tank. He need to be alone, but if he has swollen belly ther could be an internal infection happening. Treat him with Maracyn Two , I think ottos will be ok with that med.
The goldfish will eat him if he dies in that tank. It's never a good thing for any fish to eat sick fish. They could catch what may be wrong.
Sorry about your otto, but you should have researched before buying.

Well the ottos have been in there for a long time with no signs of stress. They have eaten and been quite active. The only reasons I could find that you shouldn't put other fish in with goldfish is they are dirty. I keep a very close eye on water quality and do changes to keep it almost perfect all of the time. The water temp was the only thing I was concerned about and they seemed to be more than happy. I think from the looks of it that the otto has over eaten. He is being moved to my nurse tank and I will treat it with maracyn two.

Edit: The tank is kept at 70*, plenty warm for both fish species.

Coldwater fish don't go with tropical fish.
Not according to most sites out there.
Just because it is working for now, doesn't mean it's right.
