I'm just curious as the betta and otto bug has bit me good but how many ottos could i fit in a twelve gallon tank with out other stocking with a single male betta?

Also can you keep otos on sand substrate?

I'll let someone else chime in on the stocking part, but mine are in sand and do great. There's at least 3... I think the 4th is still in there, I'm not sure though, because I only ever see 3 at a time.

I was wondering the same thing about the sand substrate... as for the stocking? I believe you should be fine with a school of four ottos and one betta...
