Worried about new otto

Hi, I went to the pet store today to see if I could get something to eat my algae. I was thinking about another pleco, but they only had one and it was too big for my tank.

So, I wound up getting an otto (along with 3 guppies, oops). Now I'm worried about the otto.

It says that they need to be slowly introduced to the tank, but its in the same bag with my guppies and has been for about 20 min.-is that too stressful for the otto?

Also, it says that they like hiding places. Does anyone have an idea for a quick one I can put in before I let the otto out?
Thanks

Hi Titi, Plants and little cave or a decoration like that would be a good place for your otto to hide.

Acclimate all of them slowly, it won't hurt the guppies. Hang the bag in the tank and slowly add a little tank water every 15 minutes or so, if the bag gets too full, empty some out (not in your tank) then continue to slowly add tank water.
I know ottos are sensitive so I'm not sure how long you should do it for.
I did it over the course of an hour or so for my fish.

Thanks, I acclimatized them all together and the otto immediately went to the glass and started sucking; now he's on a plant. I hope he'll be okay with a few small plants until I can get him a better shelter.
The current from my filter is really strong, and I'm worried that the small otto and maybe the guppies will get sucked in. Is there any way to make the current from the filter intake weaker?

attach a sponge on the filter intake.. that should keep them from getting sucked in.
