creative feeding and food?!?

has anyone been experimenting with different veggies to feed their otos?
so far i've discovered that they love zuchini and cucumber. They will eat romaine lettuce, but its not their favorite. iceburg lettuce they won't touch. and I just right now discovered that they have a taste for asparagus. does anyone have any other ideas?

also what does everyone use for weighing down the food? i've got a way that is a little different than anything i've heard... What i use is a surgical stainless steel earing which has a ball at the end of it, weighs down the veggies perfectly, and provides good access on all sides so that all the fish get a decent spot to graze.

I'm growing out 4 Otos in a QT tank. At present they are just under an inch long. They will demolish a leaf of baby spinach in about two days. There is so little left that that I cannot pick up the remaining structure as it just shreds. I think there is more nutrition in spinach than cukes or zucchini.

I stick the stem under the weight on a foam filter to hold it on the bottom.

I also have the tank where it gets direct sun to encourage algae growth, but I haven't seen any yet.

Possibly using the gravel to weigh the food down? Thats what I do.

Mine really only eat at night or when the lights are out.

the LFS around here have veggie clips in the fish food section -- they are shaped like fish, are bright orange in color and have a suction cup on the back. Not the most attractive things in the world but they do the trick
