Very Hyper OTTO'S! Normal???

I just got 3 seemingly healthy Ottos today. When I put them in the tank(after I had acclimated the bag) they went to the bottom and just sat there for a while sucking on the gravel together. A few minutes later though, they were zooming around the tank and they still are 25 minutes later!!! Is there something wrong or are they just exploring there new environment

PS. I thought that maybe the pet store sold me Chinese algae eaters but I checked my fishes markings and I highly doubt that they are CAE's but I am a fish noob! XD

as usual ANY information would be very helpful :]]

In my experience, if they seem to be actively schooling together, they should be fine.

pictures not working

soccadude for some reason it won't let me upload the pictures I just took! idk why but it just keeps saying fatal error when I try to upload them. But the ottos seemed to have calmed down a bit. What can I do to make them more happy in there new environment?

yea those are oto's. try placing a slice of cucumber, squash, lettuce, or and other vegetable in there and see how they like it. they are nocturnal, and will be more active at night. try placing a vegetable in every tmie u turn the lights on in the morning, so they associate food with lights, and will come out more during the day.

good luck!

it took my otos a couple days to figure it out. just keep it in the same place and they shouldnt hav a problem finding it

???

but will they starve in the meantime?

And should I take the lettuce out at night to keep from polluting the tank?

Also do Ottos like heavily Planted tanks?

they can probably find some algea around the tank, or on plants in the meantime. mine havent eaten anything but algea for months and are doing great.

i wouldnt leave any vegetable in the tank for more then 24 hours, so it cant decompose

and yes they do like planted tanks, but they dont need them
