Oto or CAE???

Okay so Spike is confusing the heck out of me. First I thought he was a loach, then an oto, now I'm completely confused. A number of things puzzled me about Spike the oto (or so I thought he was) - first, he's thriving with my goldfish, coldwater. Second, not knowing any better, I put him into a brand spanking new uncycled tank set-up. He lived, and thrived. Two days ago, I saw him chasing my two goldfish all over the tank.. got to a point I almost took him out of the tank altogether. That puzzled me because I thought otos were peaceloving little things. Now I've stumbled upon voiceless kat's thread on whether hers is an oto or a CAE, and now I'm wondering if it's a CAE In which case I'm really starting to worry!!

What is it Sorry the pictures aren't great... my camera isn't the best at zooming.

If its thriving in a cold water and high ammonium/nitrite/nitrate environment i doubt it would be an otto, form the photos it does look like a CAE or a SAE. also i'm not sure what they look like but i remember when i was young i had a cold wtaer catfish which latched onto my sisters goldfish and sucked liek 4 of them to death, so maybe its that if its chasing the goldfish.

My goldfish have now been re-housed - I was able to give them to someone who had a beautiful big 8 by 4 feet pond for them, so I'm glad that they'll be a lot happier now. I'm just worried about what Spike is, because I plan on getting a betta in there, but no way am I getting anything in there if Spike is going to end up hurting it.

I think CAE. The otto has to have the black line on the tail too (so I read and I had both).
There will be some experts answering you too.

It is definately a CAE one of the quick was to tell is that at a glande the CAE seems to have an interrupted stripe(sort of like dashes------) down its side and the oto has a solid stripe.
Scroll down to the bottom of this link and you can compare pictures of an Oto and a CAE

Thanks, Butterfly. Now I just have to figure out what to do with it.
