arent' otos supposed to eat green algae?

Because mine did a great job on the brown stuff, but don't seem to be doing anything about the green algae. I understand about the green-spot algae, but the standard green type?

They'll eat it when they get hungry again.

Yup, they eat mine. I had a lot in my tank when I first got my two otos, and they didn't touch any of it for a couple of days. Then one morning I looked in the tank and there wasn't a spot of green algae to be found, and the two of them were sitting on a rock looking fat and happy.

Unfortunately I lost one about 3 weeks ago. Haven't gotten around to replacing it yet. But the surviving one does quite well keeping the tank clean, and loves it when I drop in the occasional algae wafer.

OK, thanks Joe, Sirdarksol & Sword. So they're definitely meant to eat it.

Yeah, brown is definitely way easier to wipe off. You don't even need to press hard. It just comes right off.
