I gave my otos some boiled cumumber and one of them was eating soooo much that his belly looked like it would burst...So I took out the cumumber.
My question is "Will the Otos eat until they burst? or will they stop when they are full?

No, generally otos only eat what they feel they need, not enough to harm themselves. (Off topic, but goldfish will gorge themselves on food to the point that it can become harmful)

It is necessary to boil the cucumber? How long do you do that for? I've been experimenting with cucumbers in my tank, but haven't gotten the otos to take to them yet (it's only been a few days.)

i don't think you have to boil the veggie slices.. they can be put in raw or blanched.

I just put mine in raw and use a sharp knife to "score" the side of the slice to soften it. I find cucumber makes my water cloudy and smelly. I've been using zuchinni slices now.

How big of a piece of cucumber do you put in...I have been putting in a thin round slice.

What I do with my cucumbers is slice them length-wise. I feed them the cucmbers raw, washed with hot water. I slice them length-wise so that there is more surface area for them to get at. I put a plant weight on them so they sink to the bottom. I leave them in for no more than 24 hours... however they are usually completely gone by then, nothing left but some seeds of the skin. (My mollies LOVES them!)

....and living at school and being broke... I've been stealing them from the dining hall!!

That's funny. I've found that zucchini breaks off in tiny pieces that float away to rot. I found cucumber neater.
