Mating material
Would oto breed in java moss or java fern?(For the mods, if you think it is better in the breeding section, feel free to move it there)

Re: Mating material
Thanks Tom. I think Dave would prefer it in the mating section, and I don't really mind. Let's see if someone asks to move it.
Onto your question. Mmmmh. Not sure what you mean. Mine don't seem any kind of specific support to breed. Like any leaf will put them in the mood. No idea if they're the norm, though.

Re: Mating material
What I mean is, I know that otos like to breed on leaves but would they also breed in java moss? I think mine have, I saw them doing the 'T' thing and that was in the java moss.

Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah (hits forehead). On the Java moss? Like they were resting on it while doing it? That's awesome!

They were actually in the moss while making the 'T'.

The only problem is, is the java moss is so dense it is hard to see into.

Re: Mating material
I saw little wriggler things. I don't know if they are for otos or not. I hope they grow and I have baby otos.

No, when I go to get the stuff ready, they always hide in the java moss and I don't want to risk killing them via stress. I only see them when I look really hard into the moss. They are really tiny too. Whenever they feel the vibrations from anything, they move into the moss.

Re: Mating material
maybe a container big enough to scoop up the entire mass of the java moss (and the fry hiding in it)?

Re: Mating material
I'm just going to leave them and see how it goes. It was really unexpected, so I will let them go 'au natural', so to speak.
