Found a fry...

Well, I found an unidentified fry in my 26g livebearer tank... I know its not any of them, and the only other thing in that tank is a group of 4 otos. I saw it drop out of a bushy plant and then he got sucked into the filter, sooooo I unplugged the filter, emptied it, and put the lone fry in my platy fry tank. The fry is dark grey, with what looks like darker patches. He hangs in the rocks, picks at them, swims off, and settles again. It sure acts like an oto. Would be cool if it is one. I looked for more, but I figured I was lucky just to have this one... but Ill keep my eye on the bottom! 8)

Re: Found a fry...

That is so cool to find an Oto fry. He will need lots of algae to eat so if the fry tank doesn't have a lot, you could put a few rocks out in a dish of water in the sun, and grow algae on it for him. Or you could just leave the tank lights on a lot longer to encourage algae growth. I'd also put the toe of a pantyhose over the filter intake to avoid sucking up more babies, if there are any. Congrats on the fry...we'd love pics!!!

Thanks guys! I will try to get pics tonight. I'll also see if I can get some good shots of my tanks too. The tank hes in now has lots of diatoms in there, I see him picking on it. I hope he makes it!!
