So I just did another water change.

I'm worried about my other oto. When I left for work, he was sucking on the suction cup of my heater and when I came back, 6+ hours later, he was in about the same place. I tried to get a better look at him and I stuck my net in, and he swam and hid. Now I can't find him and I'm worried!!

I'm also going to go to petco I think tonight to pick up another one. I already treat with prime, is there anything else I can/should get?

i wouldn't let that worry you.. he might just have a spot he found that's good for food and they can go from spot to spot ending up back at an earlier spot.. good to keep an eye on him tho.

:-) I'm sitting here right now watching all three of my ottos play with each other! I'm so happy!

I'll be really upset if I wake up and one of them is dead!

well, give them a good talking to before you go to bed and order them to stay alive! .. really, i hope they'll all be fine and live to oto old age for you.

Update: They are all alive and well!! They listened to me.. if I can just keep them alive for a few more weeks I won't worry so much!

Hi Amnagria. Am just past my first few weeks with new otos and they seem fine, so am not so worried about them anymore, but I know what you mean about the worry. They're so fragile (what with the 'can't leave them without food for a second' rule). What's more, they've actually mated, spawned, and the fry have hatched 2 weeks ago! We feel soooo lucky. All this in a tank that has no algae whatsoever. I really hope you have the same luck.

I want to see baby oto fry pictures ASAP!

It's funny.. I know that they are nocturnal. I worry about them all day when I can't find them. I have a small 10g tank but there are a lot of hiding places. I'm worried that one is going to die and I'm not going to find it for a week when I do my W.C.!!! So I worry all day... check on them. Search for them. Worry about them! Then I come home from work at midnight (I'm a bartender/student) and the three of them are so cute chasing each other and sucking away on the walls that all of my worries go away.

I haven't named them yet because 1) I don't know their sexes... and 2) I can't see them next to each other for me to tell them apart yet!!

I was silly and left my camera upload dock back in Belgium (where I work at the moment) while all the while when I was in Belgium, I thought I'd left it at home (Netherlands). Ah well. Sorry guys, another couple of days' wait for the pictures.

Yeah, they are not for the anxious, are they. I had the same problem. Now I just assume they're both OK (we only have 2, how lucky is that that it happened to be male/female!? Can't believe our luck!). They're in this tiny tank and never hide in their hiding place. They're so well camouflaged against the gravel that they don't need to. Always takes me ages to find them.
