Oscar Overboard!

SO I know it was only a matter of time...and Saturday night was it. My black tiger Oscar threw himself overboard & out of my tank. I wasn't home, but my mom heard him flopping around at 3 am. Luckily, she was sleeping downstairs or else she wouldn't have even heard him.
He seems fine, I added some water conditioner that adds to the slime coat as soon as I got home. He ate, but he has A LOT of scales missing...
stupid fish...always something with this one...

Poor thing. I'm glad he's eating and hopefully he'll heal pretty quick.

Oh, hope he's OK. I was doing a water change in one of my tanks a couple of weeks back, and a baby guppy went for a leap of faith. Trying to get a teeny baby back off the floor was interesting...
Glad he ate something, sending wishes for a speedy recovery!!

Mine would attempt to do that when it was feeding time....only had one land on the carpet and I learned LOL ...not fun picking up a 12inch fish ....but with some extra stress coat+ and a few extra water change, he will be good as new...but he will try it again if he has the chance ...

Oh no Amanda, how scary! Do you have a hood or lid on the tank?
Hope he recovers quickly.

Brute's done it before, and still trys it everytime I feed him. You'd think he'd do it once and think, hang on, that was no fun..............

Oh Amanda how scary! I am so glad that he's okay. I am so afraid of Gulliver doing that. He has started banging his head on the hood when he's hungry and wants food.

Its scary when ur oscars jump out but imagine this. I was feeding my first oscar that was about 4 inches and I leaned over the tank to look at him . . . next thing I know I see a black bullet go flyin by my head followed by several bounces. I got him back in the tank with no damage but every night with the lights off I hear him bouncin off the lid or sides. LOL

My Oscars are relatively calm until they see me approaching the tank with food.
I think I figured out why he leaped out before - because he almost did it right in front of me last night - the pleco often darts to the surface of the tank for a breath & he scares my tiger Oscar all the time! The pleco almost gave the poor thing a heart attack last night!
