Urgent, Oscar With A White Scab!!

theres a pet shop i go too that just ordered in a 4 inch oscar. this oscar has what looks like a large white scab on the right side of his body. they asked me what was wrong with it and i suggested bacteria infection. i told them to change the oscars water because the water was quite dirty. it is in a 10g tank for now, separated while they change the water in the other tank.

the white scab is about an inch long. the oscar isn't eating well and he is lying on the gravel alot.

any suggestions what is wrong?

Oscars do not travel well. There's a good chance that he could have been injured during transit. Oscars also tend to lie on the gravel for a day or so after travelling and not feed. A 10gal tank is far too small for an oscar of any size, let alone a 4 inch one. It should be easy to change water in a tank whilst leaving the Oscar in there, as only 50% of the water should really be changed in one go.

wow, you found this thread quick. i told them to change the water cause there were the small white worms swimming around. what are they called again? they are harmless, but they only appear in a dirty tank. i said the 10 g was small but it's only temporary. i'll mension the scab suggestion to them.

thanx
