Feeders from the store really have little to no nutritional value. It's best to breed your own feeders if you are set on live food. But live food is not a must, there are many pellets, freeze-dried, and frozen food that can be given to Oscars.

I maintained a tank at the ambulance base I worked out of. It had 2 oscars...started small and grew to be very large and healthy. In the 4 years I looked after this tank, they were sick and had to be medicated only once...this was when a co-worker fed them feeder fish from a LFS.
I wouldn't bother with feeder fish. They will do very well on cichlid pellets and occasional frozen food...blood worms etc...

making your own food is much cheaper and so much better...I use to feed my oscars a mixture of beef heart, omega one flakes, hikari cichlid pellets, lettuce, cucumbers, fresh raw shrimp, blood worms, zucchini, fresh garlic, vita chem, with a vitamin c pill all in a blender ...then mix 6-7 tsps of gelatin to that mixture and freeze it in ice cube container....it makes a ton and last forever .. feeder fish are a huge cause of hole in the head disease for oscars so not recommended unless its a very reputable store that breeds their own feeders and doesnt have them shipped in from elsewhere...
