How big is your tank? Knowing the size of the tank will be the determining factor on whether or not you can add another. Oscars are also somewhat difficult to sex and knowing if you have a male or female can be quite hard to figure out. There is almost no way to determine the sex of an oscar visually.

Whats the size of your tank? one oscar needs 55 gallons to himself and i think the minimum for a pair would be 90 gallons

oscars are monophonic which means both male and female look the same..you cant sex them unless they spawn...oscars do love other fish in the same agression level and especially like some of their own..but , as the others have said, 90gals or more is required or they wont survive...also, your oscar being alone for 6 months, he may not tolerate anyone else in the tank at this point....
