| Oscar in bad shape.... So I came home today to find one of my albino oscars in pretty bad shape. It looks like he has been attacked. He was laying upside down but still had gill and eye movement so I moved him to another tank to try to save him. Does anyone have any good remedies for this situation. I have added salt as a stress reducer but think it's only a matter of time before I find him floating. He was always the instigator of the tank but I guess everyone decided to gang up on him this time. |

| oh, I am so sorry to hear about this, maybe some garlic guard and stress coat to help him feel better, is he bit up or just really tired and lethargic? |

| You can try stress coat & garlic guard. 62 gal. is a bit cramped for 3 full grown Oscars. That may be why the tiff started. |

| Sometimes if they take a beating they can recover ok. Does he have any injuries? |

| I'm well aware, but the fish is injured b/c of a housing problem.
Making that statement.
No need to correct that. |

| I'm not correcting it, I agree that it is due to housing, but we are trying to save the fish not worry about stocking right now. when the fish has recovered then maybe it would be time to change the tank stock a little. |

He has some fin damage and a few, what I think are bite marks on his side. |

| Also, not on the Oscar but - an iridescent shark can get to be 4 feet in length & 100 lbs. |

Do you have another tank you can keep him in? Unfortunatly you may find that now he's had his butt kicked the other Oscars will continue to pick on him. |

He is about 5" right now and will be going into my 220 gallon tank that is in the process of cycling. We can talk all day about stocking but I am well aware of the limits and limitations when it comes to fish. Stocking talk is in no way helping my oscar right now but thanks for your concern. |

| MPrudent you could also put Melafix or something like it to help with any infection that may occur from the bite wounds...Poor baby getting in trouble...I'm really pulling for ya. |

| how long have they been together? if im not mistaking, these arent new to you are they? im thinking it might have been some kind of deco that got him ...although fighting between them is always around, its not usualy to do damage that severe...the older and bigger they get, they almost do somersaults in their tanks and anything that sticks out or is hard, they will injure easily on that....right now id keep the prestine water as most have said, and if you can find fish protector and some stress coat+, that will help alot....I hope he doest better !! |
