If it looks like a wound then some Melafix or a good water change and some salt would help. I try not to medicate unless I have to. Any pics?

I totally agree with sjlchgo , it sounds like a wound and I think a water change should be done asap. The salt does work great!!! I have a sunfish that sometimes runs into stuff when he gets startled and gets wounds like that. I use salt and does seem to help. Hope your Oscar gets better soon!!!!

is he still in the 10 gal? and what are you feeding him? it could be either wound if he has things in his tank he could hurt himself on or hole in the head from diet or water parimeters...
